Going to a wedding reception today is a zillion times better that attending the cookie- cutter weddings of yester-year. The fun part is that you never know what to expect from the bride and groom when it comes to their wedding decorations. Gone are the days of just lillies and roses and only white ribbons. Last month, my wife and I attended a wedding that actually did a surfer and tie- dyed theme. It felt more like a 60’s beach party than a wedding. I kept expecting Annette and Frankie to come in with the next wave. The beauty of it all is that the couple now has an expanded opportunity to express themselves that really didn’t exist by being trapped by tradition at an earlier time.

The last time I looked, wedding decorations had an average life span of about seven hours. I am willing to bet that if I had the opprtunity to visit ten newly wedded couples and asked them if they would like to go back in time and spend less on those decorations I’d have about 9 would say yes. This particular industry seems to rely on the impulses of immature and over excited people. On the other hand, making that day memorable does require doing unforgetable things. The thing to do is to be resonable in your choices and don’t try to outdo others. Do what represents you. It shouldn’t be a competition.

I have been hearing about how helpful and sometimes life-saving different pieces of software have been. I would really appreciate have something shorten my work load like furniture retail software did for a friend of mine. He claims it gave him his social life back. He said after three straight years of 12 hour days, he was entertaining giving up his business. Then this software became available and it changed his life. I am told that even if something exactly like this doesn’t exist for my particular business, that I can have it custom built. I have no idea of the cost, but you can bet I’ll lok into it.

Eco Friendly Printing

The time has run out. If we don’t wake up and make the drastic changes that are critical to the environment, we will be literally digging our own graves. These things can be done as evidenced by a Canadian printing company. They altered their printing processes to be eco friendly printing. The previous toxic waste from their procedeures are gone. What a blessing it would be if this were the start of a trend throughout all the manufacturers in the world. Unfortunately, these stories are far and few between. I’m afraid it will take a number of tragic events to spur the rest of the polluters to take action. Maybe these people can eat their dollars when the soil stops producing healthy food.

It must be nice to have small manageable problems and decisions to make; while thousands, if not, millions of us are running amok trying to stay afloat during the worst economic collapse of our lives. It would be great to wake up one morning and actually look forward to getting out of bed instead of dreading what lies before you. Imagine looking at your to-do list and the number one task were to have to select from a catalogue of wedding cake toppers. Wow! What a daunting task. Excuse the sarcasm, but let’s get real, it must really be nice. I keep hearing things are getting better. The problem is my check book hasn’t shown it as of this point.

Just like everything else in this world, you have to decide what you are willing to give up for what you want. Wedding decorations can run from reasonable to ridiculous, depending on how ostentatious and how economical you want to be. I have known of married couples having to make mortgage level payments for years because of a one day’s splurge. Don’t misunderstandme, if you have the cash and you want to do it up big, be my guest, But if you have to be burdened with a major payment for the duration, it doesn’t make sense to me. Keep in mind, we’re talking about a five to ten hour life span for these decorations.

When I read about the money a certain celebrity had spent on wedding decorations, I actually broke into laughter. All I could think was “what an idiot.” To spend what many of us will never earn in our lifetime on a six hour party is not only ridiculous but, to me, hideously offensive. Many of you may think that it is none of my business and people can spend their cash however they want. I don’t totally disagree with that reasoning, but I feel that if you read the number I’m talking about, you might also want to vomit. Turn on your TV and see entire communities starving and then let me know if you could waste in one evening, what could feed these people forever.
